I’m confident all of you understand how hard it is to locate a good, southern, soul food style baked macaroni and cheese recipe right? People have a tendency to have a tight grasp on their own prized macaroni cheese recipes.

Well imagine my shock when my sister sashayed in on Thanksgiving and casually placed this baked macaroni cheese up for grabs. I possibly could have sworn I'd our family people baked mac n cheese recipes. That which was this impostor about! The proof was at the flavour. I'd one (ok three) plates of the macaroni and cheese and it was on her behalf heels like ash during the cold months time looking to get this recipe.

My hubby required a bite and stated &"ohhhhh you have to bring your mac n cheese recipe off your site and set that one up. That one is waaay much better than yours!&" Many Thanks MATT&...You’ll purchase that comment very much! lol (and don’t think I didn't remember)

Yall this baked macaroni and cheese is filled with SOUL. That's the first factor that found mind after i required that first bite. I simply love how topping layer of smoked cheese forms just like a crust. It’s super creamy, flavorful, and simple. However the MVP is the fact that SMOKED CHEDDAR! Good God I couldn’t give up eating these items.

Just too large sis&....I'll bow lower gracefully for you and state that you get the best Baked MAC N CHEESE EVER!

*UPDATE* 2/13/12 Sorry sis however i think I’ve discovered a brand new best baked macaroni and cheese recipe lol I’ll be posting it soon guys, however this the first is still a popular!!

I've printed this recipe, required a photograph from it, laminated it and set it within my recipe album. Very few recipes get to really make it towards the album. She’s a keeper!

  • 3 cups macaroni, uncooked
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1½ cups milk
  • salt & pepper
  • paprika (optional)
  • 1 cup smoked cheddar cheese, shredded (essential)
  • 6-8 oz. velvetta, shredded (you can reduce the velvetta if you do not would like it to be super creamy)
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar (may use less if you do not just like a sharp style of your mac n cheese)
  • 1 cup colby & monteray jack, shredded (cheese blend)
  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Prepare macaroni until just al dente or perhaps a little under al dente. (Check out the rear of this area to determine how lengthy you have to prepare your pasta for this to achieve al dente.) Be cautious no to overcook.
  3. Drain pasta and hang aside.
  4. Inside a large bowl, add milk, heavy cream & cheeses (aside from the smoked cheddar).

  11. Pour cheese mixture over macaroni.
  12. Make certain the cheese distributed well.
  13. Top with smoked cheddar cheese. (I add a bit more Colby jack too.) Sprinkle with paprika and/or pepper, if preferred.
  14. Bake for 35-forty-five minutes. Don't overbake. It might be a little jiggly whenever you remove it from the oven. It'll set because it awesome.
  15. Let awesome for around 10-fifteen minutes or until fully set.

Smoked cheddar cheese are available in supermarkets within the niche cheese section, avoid the shredded, common cheeses. I recieve mine from Walmart. Don't over bake! Mac and cheese can be a tad jiggly when taken off oven but it'll set because it cools. You can utilize other cheeses, however that smoked cheddar is essential!
