Beef strips over rice recipe

MAKES: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 pounds beef top sirloin steak, reduce thin strips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons essential olive oil, divided
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 garlic clove clove, minced
  • 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomato plants, undrained
  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1/3 cup dry dark wine or additional reduced-sodium beef broth
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried tulsi
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 3 cups hot cooked grain

Directions

  1. Sprinkle beef strips with pepper and salt. Inside a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, brown beef in 1 teaspoon oil. Remove and warm.
  2. Within the same skillet, saute onions in remaining oil until tender. Add garlic clove prepare one minute longer. Stir within the tomato plants, broth, wine, bay leaf, tulsi and thyme. Provide a boil. Reduce heat simmer, uncovered, for ten minutes.
  3. Return beef towards the pan prepare for just two-4 minutes or until tender. Discard bay leaf. Serve with grain.
    Freeze option: Freeze cooled beef mixture in freezer containers. To make use of, partly thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through inside a saucepan, stirring from time to time and adding just a little broth or water if required. Yield: 6 servings.
