  • 2¾ cups sugar
  • ¾ cup salted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 2 teaspoon. vanilla flavoring
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup evaporated milk
  • ¼ cup sour cream
  1. Cream together the sugar, butter and shortening until smooth then beat in vanilla. Add eggs, individually, until fluffy.
  2. Inside a separate bowl, sift together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt). Add this flour mixture and also the evaporated milk towards the original mixture alternately. Beat for just two minutes on medium speed, then fold within the sour cream.
  3. Spread onto a parchment lined half sheet pan. Bake at 325°F until a toothpick placed in the centre arrives clean (25-35 minutes - but check at 25 minutes!).
