Recipe for lazy daisy oatmeal cake

1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. Quaker oatmeal (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon. soda
1/2 teaspoon. salt
3/4 teaspoon. cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon. nutmeg

1/4 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons of. half & half

1/3 c. chopped nutmeats
3/4 c. shredded or flaked coconut

Cake: Pour boiling water over oatmeal cover and let stand twenty minutes. Beat butter until creamy progressively add sugars and beat until fluffy. Merge vanilla and eggs. Add oat mixture mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. Increase creamed mixture mix well. Pour batter into well greased and floured 9 inch square pan. Bake in preheated moderate oven (350 levels) for 50-55 minutes. Don't remove cake from pan.

Frosting: Combine all ingredients. Spread evenly over cake. Broil until frosting becomes bubbly. Cake might be offered warm or cold.
