Chicken kuzhambu recipe for idli with idli

Most Favorited and popular recipes of Spicy Treats' are Non-Vegetarian recipes as well as I recieve more request Chicken or Non-Vegetarian recipes. So mainly to talk about here, I prepare Non-Veg recipes a couple of times inside a month. Which time that it is Mutton Kuzhambu / South Indian Style Mutton Curry which is my Mom's recipe. This is the way My mother makes Mutton Kuzhambu in your own home, simple Pressure oven method with Mutton Masala Powder. But My Grandma's recipe differs and she or he not used at all commercially made Masala Powder, with freshly ground spices. Also My Granny add couple of Potato pieces and Drumstick towards the Mutton Kuzhambu. That provides different flavor and different taste. Will share that recipe later.
This Mutton kuzhambu recipe is simple to create with less preparation process. We usually add couple of mint leaves to Non-Veg Kuzhambu that actually gives lovely flavor and taste. Mutton kuzhambu pairs well with Idli/Dosa/Appam/Parotta with Plain Grain Biryani also. We'd it with Idlis in the morning with grain for supper.

Mutton Kuzhambu Recipe

Prep Time. ten minutes Prepare Time. half an hour

Recipe Category. Side Dish

Ingredients
  1. Mutton under 1 lb/ 350 gm
  2. Onion 1 medium(finely chopped)
  3. Tomato 1 medium(chopped)
  4. Ginge Garlic clove Paste 1 teaspoon
  5. Turmeric Powder 1/4 teaspoon
  6. Chili Powder 1 and 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Coriander Powder 2 teaspoon
  8. Mutton Masala or Garam Masala Powder 1 teaspoon
  9. Mint leaves 1-2 tablespoons of(chopped)
  10. Cilantro/coriander leaves couple of finely chopped
  11. Salt to taste
To Wet Grind
  1. Coconut,shredded 5 tablespoons of (Fresh or frozen)
  2. Khas Khas/Poppy seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  3. Whole Cashew Nuts 6 no.
  4. Pepper Corns 8-10 no.(optional)
  5. Coriander leaves leaves alone from 5-6 stems
  6. Mint leaves 5 no.(leaves alone)
To Temper
  1. Oil 1/2 tablespoons of
  2. Mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  3. Fennel seeds 1/4 teaspoon
  4. Clove 2 no.
  5. Cinnamon 1/2" stick
  6. Bay Leaf 1 small leaf
  7. Curry leaves 1 sprig
Method
  • Clean Mutton pieces, drain excess water and covered.
  • Heat oil inside a pressure oven, add some tempering ingredients one at a time and fry well.
  • Adding ginger root garlic clove paste saute for any minute adding finely chopped onions and saute till it turns golden brown.
  • Next add chili, turmeric, coriander, mutton masala powder and stir fry for 1-2 minutes in medium heat.
  • After which add chopped tomato and saute till it turns mushy.
  • Next add mutton pieces and saute in medium heat for six-7 minutes(this sauteing is must also it helps you to give nice flavor towards the gravy and
  • even the spices get mixed well using the mutton)
  • After which add 1 glasses of water, enough salt, couple of mint and coriander leaves and pressure prepare for 8-9 whistles and turn off the stove.
  • Permit the pressure to awesome lower, meanwhile grind the coconut paste and ready.
  • When the pressure is completed, open the lid, add coconut paste and add water to preferred consistency and again pressure prepare for just two whistles.
  • Wait until pressure lower after which open the lid and then add for chopped cilantro.
  • There you have it..Hot and spicy Flavorful Mutton Kuzhambu ready. Serve Hot with grain or hot idlis.
