Pickled fish roll mops recipe

Rods love sardines -- pickled, creamed, fried, whole, fillets -- as well as in an appetizer recipe referred to as rollmops or rolmopsy in Polish. The derivation from the name comes from the German rollen or "to roll" plus mops for "pug dog." Your dog connection is less obvious.

Easy rollmops are created by utilizing store-bought pickled sardines that's drained and wrapped around the selection of dill pickles, pickled mushrooms or pickled onions. This will make an excellent starter course anytime of the season but specifically for Polish Christmas Eve or wigilia and Year's Eve celebrations.

Here's another rollmops recipe thanks to chef Marek Widomski of Krakw which requires whole salt fillets which are cleaned, stuffed and marinated for a few days. Here is another recipe for herrings in oil (not folded) also from chef Marek.

Ingredients
  • 4 pickled sardines fillets, reduce 3 pieces, pickling juices from jar reserved
  • Dill pickles
  • Pickled mushrooms
  • Pickled onions
  • Fresh dill or parsley sprigs

Preparation
  1. Convey a slice of dill pickle or pickled mushroom or pickled onion at one finish of each one of the 12 drained pickled sardines pieces. Roll and skewer having a fancy frilled toothpick. Cover with plastic and refrigerate until prepared to serve.
  2. Sometimes and services information, if preferred, drizzle rolls with reserved pickling juices or serve the juices individually in a tiny bowl for dipping. Garnish each rollmop having a sprig of dill or parsley.
