Portuguese pickled onions are most likely probably the most unique and traditional dishes that Portuguese food provides. Thinking about the Portuguese really are a culture which utilizes all of the ingredients possible and wastes nothing when creating food, i was going to have the means to preserve our vegetables. I've enjoyed these scrumptious pickled treats many occasions and that i remember whenever my grandma and grandpa might have them already made prepared to enjoy. There is a very unique and juicy flavor which could simply be understood if you attempt it yourself.
Ingredients:
20 onions for canning
2 cups wine vinegar
two tablespoons of salt
1/5 cup of oil
2 cloves of garlic clove
3 bay leaves
1 tablespoon of mustard seeds
1 tablespoon of oregano
1/2 teaspoon of clove
1 tablespoon of oregano
1 tablespoon pepper (whole, without grinding)
1 tablespoon of red pepper flakes
1 big jar having a lid
Directions:
1) Peel all of the onions and rinse them well.
2) Boil a pot water and add some onions for five minutes (helps you to allow the flavor from the onion be less pronounced, without losing crispness)
3) Inside a saucepan, prepare the seasoning. Boil all ingredients (vinegar, water, essential olive oil, salt, garlic clove, bay leaves and spices selected) together.
4) Place onions inside a big jar and add some boiling seasoning within the onions.
5) Let awesome slightly and shut the lid.
6) Store within the refrigerator not less than 3 days.
7) The more you allow them to keep preserving, the greater the onions will taste.
