Yearwood skillet apple pie recipe
Ingredients
  • Skillet Apple Cake:
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 refrigerated folded cake crusts, for example Pillsbury
  • One 21-ounce can apple cake filling
  • two tablespoons cinnamon sugar
  • Cinnamon Whipped Cream:
  • 2 cups whipping cream, chilled
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
Directions

For that skillet apple cake: Preheat the oven to 400 levels F.

Melt the butter inside a 9-inch cast-iron skillet put aside 1 tablespoon from the melted butter for that top crust. Towards the melted butter, add some brown sugar and melt them together on medium heat, a couple of minutes. Remove in the heat and line the skillet and among the cake crusts. Pour the apple cake filling within the crust and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon from the cinnamon sugar. Make use of the second cake crust to pay for the filling. Brush the very best using the reserved melted butter, then evenly sprinkle the rest of the 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar on the top. Cut vents in the center of the cake. Bake for half an hour. Serve hot, capped having a generous dollop of cinnamon whipped cream.

For that cinnamon whipped cream. Chill a sizable metal mixing bowl along with a wire beater attachment within the freezer for around twenty minutes. Pour the cream, cinnamon and sugar in to the cold mixing bowl and beat until soft peaks form, two to three minutes the mix should hold its shape when dropped from the spoon. Don't overbeat or you will have sweetened butter!
