Candied Yams Recipe is perfect for traditional candied sweet taters created using corn syrup, butter and flavoring like Granny made. They're scrumptious with Pork or Poultry.

Confused be it Yams? The simple truth is. there's two kinds of sweet taters one type is lighter colored having a drier,  somewhat mealy texture.

Another type, and often incorrectly known as a "Yam",  includes a deep yellow or orange colored flesh, and it is softer, moister and sweeter.

The real yam is definitely an entirely different vegetable within the U . s . Claims that is imported from another country and it is difficult to find.

  The U. S. Department Of Agriculture mandates that labels that read 'Yams' also condition 'Sweet Potatoes'. when that is what they really are.

Candied Yams Recipe

  • 2 lbs. sweet taters (a couple of large or 3 medium size)
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup (I personally use Karo Syrup)
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • two tablespoons butter (don't substitute)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

Wash taters and put inside a medium saucepan. Cover with water. Prepare on medium heat until water involves a boil. Reduce heat to low and prepare 25-half an hour until taters are soft but nonetheless slightly firm.
