Apple pie spice cookies recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 Granny Cruz apples
  • 2⅓ c. all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoon. ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon. baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon. sodium bicarbonate
  • ¼ teaspoon. Salt
  • .13 teaspoon. ground cloves
  • .13 teaspoon. grated nutmeg
  • 1¼ c. packed brown sugar
  • ¾ c. unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ c. tart dried cherries
  • ½ c. walnuts
  • ½ c. packed brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons of. unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons of. milk
  • ½ teaspoon. vanilla flavoring
  • 1 c. confectioners' sugar
  • ½ c. walnuts

Directions

  1. Cookies: Heat oven to 375 F. Line 3 large cookie sheets with parchment. Grate 1 apple on large holes of box grater. Chop remaining apple.
  2. In a tiny bowl, whisk flour, cinnamon, baking powder, sodium bicarbonate, salt, cloves, and nutmeg. Inside a large bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs, individually until well blended. Beat in flour mixture just until blended (dough is going to be thick). Stir in apples, cherries and walnuts.
  3. Drop dough by heaping tablespoons. onto prepared cookie sheets, 2-inches apart. Bake 10-12 minutes, until tops spring when pressed. Transfer cookies to wire rack to awesome.
  4. Frosting: In a tiny saucepan, combine brown sugar, butter, and milk. Provide a boil over medium heat, stirring from time to time. Boil for just two minutes. Remove saucepan from heat stir in vanilla. Let mixture awesome a couple of minutes. Stir in confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Spread frosting in the heart of the cooled cookies. Reheat frosting over low heat, if required, to help keep it an even, spreadable consistency. Sprinkle with walnuts. Let stand until frosting sets.
