Recipe to make flour tortillas from Thibeault's Table. Credit to Ann in the gardenweb internet addy since most of this receipe originates from her publish: ths.gardenweb.com/ forums/ load/recipex/ msg0611460316237.html?7 I love this straightforward recipe for tortillas that utilizes staples usually on hands. I'm battling cancer and can't eat yeast or sugar, so tortillas are a good option to bread!

Ingredients Diet

  • 2 cups flour (you will get creative together with your flour choices like wheat grains, spelt, soy, or a combination of flours)
  • 1 ⁄2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ⁄4 cup vegetable shortening or 1 ⁄4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 ⁄2 cup tepid to warm water (may well have to increase the, as much as 3/4 cup) or 1 ⁄2 cup milk (may well have to increase the, as much as 3/4 cup)

I double this batch making it about every 2 days. I personally use water part and can turn out great! I've attempted with milk consider water is much more easily available I am going with this. I additionally do half and 1 / 2 of white-colored flour and wheat grains (I attempted doing all wheat grains and it wasn't to my liking) I did previously buy tortillas constantly and today I make sure they are myself!

Excellent. May I would recommend using Lard (Manteca in Spanish) the traditional way? Now that we know that Crisco and vegetable oils aren't nearlyas healthy as yes, surprisingly, pig fat!

Great recipe. I made the tortillas with canola oil rather of shortening, used water, and did 1/2 c. of wheat grains flour, 1 1/2 c. all-purpose. Later on I'll likely make sure they are just with A.P. flour when utilizing them for tacos/fajitas however for use as wraps I believe the mixture of wheat along with a.G. flour is effective. This recipe was super easy and makes scrumptious tortillas. I'll certainly continue using this recipe rather of buying tortillas at the shop.
