Peel and chop the onions. Wash and chop the eco-friendly chilies. Peel and cube the taters. Peel and mince the ginger root and garlic clove. Clean, wash and chop the coriander leaves. Wash and soak the dal and grain for 30 minutes. Drain.
Step Two
Grind the coconut piece to some fine paste. Fry onions in a mix of 1 tablespoon ghee and 1 tablespoon oil. Once the onions are light brown add some cumin seeds, minced garlic clove, ginger root and eco-friendly chillies. Adding the red chilli powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder along with the ground coconut.
Step Three
Fry for some time, make the grain and dal and fry for both 2-3 minutes. Pour in tepid to warm water till it's about 2 " above the amount of the grain. When the water dries up, more tepid to warm water might be added. Add potato cubes and salt. Once the water starts bubbling, lower heat and simmer till grain and dal are cooked.
Step Four
Sprinkle coriander leaves on the top and serve hot.
