You are able to dry roast your grain inside a fry pan. Oil is not required. The concept would be to convert the starch thus making the grain more fluffy and a lesser carb threat. Just dry fry until the majority of the grain is really a white-colored color or opaque. Like a Mexican family, we don't use tomato products within our Spanish grain or enchilada sauce. We use chile powder, cumin, broth along with a little oregano and often some fried onions. Tomato sauce is extremely acidic and retards the cooking from the grain. You might want to lengthen time needed to prepare the grain if you are using it. This dish should be just a little bland and offered in conjuction along with other spicy dishes. It functions like a buffer to another more spicy dishes and it is, therefore, more complimentary. Some families mix carnitas, or any other meat using the grain to create a one dish family dinner. Obviously, this grain could be increase almost any kind of burrito.
I really like this recipe! We may have a great side dish after which I make soup from the leftovers. Add chicken broth, chopped onions and tomato plants, a can of chili beans, some chopped cooked chicken, and simmer until vegetables are tender. Add hot sauce, cajun seasonings or cayenne if you would like it hotter

Rather from the plum tomato plants I added a can of Rotel tomato plants with eco-friendly chilies allow it a bit more pizzaz. We LOVED it! Had together with Linda's Mexican Meatloaf so we really enjoyed both of them! We'll have it can soon with my modifications. Thanks Jessica with this great grain recipe!
