Just opened up on Chinese New Years, Lau Hai San Hot Pot sits behind the venerable Thanh Huong Sandwiches on Senter Road, just north of Umberger. No coincidence as it is of the boy from the sandwich maker. It's a spick and span sit lower place with booths and tables that features daily fresh delivery of its perishable ingredients. Very friendly waitstaff, extensive menu of Vietnamese favorites. My bun (picutred below) was perfect in flavor and presentation. The grill beef with onion was that perfect mixture of tender seared beef having a sweet crunch of onion chaser. The eggrolls had the blistered skin just like a severe sunburn having a balanced pork, plant and glass noodle filling conjoined in culinary matrimony with a refreshing nuom choc. An excellent new accessory for the numerous choices that us dot the Monterey highway area corridor.
