Recipe Ingredients

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 scallions, trimmed, and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch thick pieces
1 1/2 cups sliced Napa cabbage
1/4 cup sliced celery
1/4 cup bean sprouts
1/4 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon Oriental sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon corn starch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon cold water

Red pepper flakes, to taste
1/4 pound cooked vermicelli noodles

Method

Inside a large heavy skillet heat the vegetable oil until it's hot although not smoking as well as in it stir-fry the scallions, cabbage, celery and bean sprouts for several minutes, or before the cabbage is wilted. Add some sugar, broth, soy sauce, and sesame oil and simmer the mix, covered, for several minutes.

Stir the corn starch mixture, stir it in to the vegetable mixture, and produce the liquid to some boil. Season to taste with red pepper flakes. Simmer until heated through and serve over noodles.
