Overnight Crockpot Oatmeal

4 cups water
1/2 cup milk

Just chose to make this yesterday using the boyfriend. I awaken early, and so i just checked onto it. Really thick, tasteless gruel. I've got a newer crockpot, and so i place it from low to warm, added more milk, a lot of brown sugar&....well, all of the flavorings. Overnight, it appears like all of them cooked out and/or stuck towards the sides. Hopefully boyfriend doesn’t mind the entire mush consistency. But we've bacon, therefore we’ll live.
Side note: I’ve made steel cut oatmeal around the stove, and individuals were soft and the perfect consistency. Can there be just not a way to duplicate that overnight?
