This spring, I finally had the opportunity to meet a nearby style blogger whose site I used to be crushing on for a long time &- the stunning Julie of Coordinately Yours .
This girl is my total kindred spirit with regards to entertaining. She loves welcoming buddies and family into her home every chance she will get, and enjoys creating beautiful meals and recollections which make her visitors feel extra welcome. But with regards to the particular home a part of entertaining, I've tons to understand from her because Julie is really a rockstar at decorating and making her actual house feel beautiful and welcoming too. From designing all the rooms in her own house. to thinking about a variety of thoughtful gifts and DIY projects, not to mention, whipping up signature cocktails and wonderful recipes for every type of occasions, this girl understands how to make her buddies and family feel special. The best of this? She doesn’t just blog about this she really lives it.
So obviously, after meeting out a couple of occasions, both of us made the decision it might be fun to obtain together at some point and do what we should love best &- spend some time in the kitchen area! My loft, beyond my new kitchen, continues to be in serious necessity of decorating help. So Julie graciously provided to drive to downtown KC and spend your day inside my place, where she gave some amazing assistance with putting some finishing touches on my small space. (My very first time getting a real factual decorating expert take a look at my house &- this type of treat!) After which together we labored on creating a &"signature cocktail&" during the day that's a healthier form of my personal favorite drink:
Julie was really the one that requested we attempt the concept, especially after she was offered a thin margarita this month that they stated sampled unbelievably fresh and tasty. So since she’s the queen of dreaming up fun &"bar&" suggestions for entertaining &- see her mojito bar. sugar cookie bar. lemonade bar. hot cocoa bar. a sugar scrub bar &- we made the decision it might be fun to generate a brand new and straightforward skinnymargarita bar that people could create for the buddies.
She introduced over the most amazing bottle of tequila to obtain our little party began. (That We quickly went later on and acquired a silver and anejo bottle personally &- too pretty!!)
Therefore we reached taste-testing. We made the decision to produce a base recipe which was created using four simple ingredients:
- fresh lime juice
- fresh orange juice
- agave nectar
- tequila
Among the little secrets Julie learned when she sampled the thin margarita in a restaurant was they used a squeeze of fresh orange juice rather of orange liqueur, which cuts lower (in a major way) on extra calories. But better still, it adds a really noticeable burst of freshness and sweet orange taste towards the margarita. So great!
We taste tested and taste tested with various amounts of all the ingredients, attempting to use minimal agave to be able to cut lower on calories. But we still couldn’t quite appear to obtain the ratios until we finally attempted something out that people now consider our super stellar secret component. Are you able to guess it??
I understand, it may sound so lame inside a cocktail. But we finally just added just a little a little water to the cocktail, and so the angels began singing. It had been only the extra &"something&" that people were searching for to be able to balance all the flavors. And bonus, it is calorie free too. )
So after we had our base recipe all set to go, we made the decision to puree some fruit also to increase our margarita bar. Julie introduced on the huge watermelon, and that i had a lot of mangoes on hands. Therefore we sprang them within the mixer until smooth&...
&...after which stirred them into our drinks! Voila!
They switched out very well. Both of us agreed that all that fruit built them into taste perfectly sweet and lightweight and refreshing. The best of this would be that the classic margaritas clock in for less than 160 calories an amount. So that you can have a second&...or, um, have restraint and merely sip that first. )
These would be also fantastic with other sorts of pureed fruit, like bananas, kiwi, particularly, pineapple, raspberries, or pears. We muddled a couple of with mint, which built them into taste all of the fresher too.
After which obviously, Julie labored her decorating magic making the presentation look just like lovely because the drinks sampled.
Skinny margarita bar for that win!
Make sure to take a look at Julie’s posts today too &- Skinny Margarita Bar &- for additional tips about the entertaining side of the idea. You'll love her site, I promise! Grateful to now call her a buddy too. And also to our other buddies, I give fair warning since i’m pretty positive this will probably be the summer time of skinny margarita bars inside my house. )
