My folks ALWAYS made their grain by doing this (Father trained Mother, too!), only omitting the onion and taking advantage of water only if preparing it for something sweet, just like a grain pudding. It truly takes no more than ordinary grain, also it tastes a lot better. Check it out, and you'll never return to making grain that old way! The orzo choice is my very own addition and is a fairly variation, particularly when getting company.
Ingredients Diet
- 1 cup uncooked lengthy-grain grain
- two tablespoons butter or two tablespoons extra virgin essential olive oil (or perhaps a combination)
- 1 small onion. chopped
- 2 cups chicken broth or 2 cups beef broth or 2 cups vegetable broth (preferred) or 2 cups hot plain tap water
- 1 teaspoon salt (decrease or delete if chicken broth is salted, needed with water)
Variation (additional)
I bending this recipe making it tonight to visit under Easy Chicken Stroganoff (#54145). Very tasty, perfect texture, with no sticky mess! (gotta love that) I did not make use of the onion or even the broth since the Stroganoff had this type of dominating flavor, but I am sure it will likely be quite tasty the next time! Wonderful method to make perfect grain without escaping . the clumsy grain oven. Thanks!
*UPDATE* Just needed to update this to five stars cause it has been the only method I've made grain since trying this recipe several months ago. )
This can be a nice change for all of us. I have managed to get with spaghetti, Maggi vegetable broth with onions(using 2 of individuals cubes), overlooked the salt and used Sunflower oil. It went perfectly, particularly with my more youthful brother!
This recipe makes making grain certified! It had been perfect grain not sticky, mushy or gummy! Thank you for discussing by doing this of creating grain. I'll allow it to be by doing this always! I made use of essential olive oil to brown the grain gently and merely added water thats it and thus tasty loved the taste.
