I gave this recipe 5 stars. I really like this recipe these cookies are extremely good and simple. I received my copy of the recipe in class at home ec. class. The copy I've is slightly different. It requires 3 cups flour, 1 Teaspoon salt, 2 eggs, and 1 1/2 Teaspoon vanilla. The recipe also requires various things to combine-in making different cookies. Cookie Tarts: Spoon 1 Teaspoon jelly or preserves onto 1 / 2 of the slices: top with remaining slices. Seal edges. Cut slits in tops so filling shows. About 3 1/2 dozen sandwich cookies. Crunchy Peanut Cookies: Substitute 1/2 cup crunchy peanut butter for 1/2 cup from the margarine and packed brown sugar for that granulated sugar. Nut Cookies: Add 1/2 cup chopped blanched almonds or black walmarts using the flour. Orange-Almond Cookies: Add 1 Tbl grated orange peel with margarine and 1/2 cup chopped blanched almonds using the flour. Thank you for posting this type of tasty recipe! Christine (internetnut)
I'm a cookieholic and that i made these today. I've only one word to state AMAZING. Certainly one of my new favorites.
I made these just as directed with one notable exception. I added a teaspoon of dried rosemary oil. The outcomes were absolutely scrumptious - not very sweet, having a subtle rosemary oil flavor. They are really outstanding. Thank you for an excellent recipe. UPDATE: I simply built them into again, with the help of the rosemary oil, and they are much better than I recall. Many thanks for writing this outstanding recipe.
