Nachos

Ingredients

  • 8 cups tortilla chips
  • 1 pound hamburger
  • 1 15 ounce can black beans or pinto beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup canned chunky salsa
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese with jalapeno peppers, cheddar cheese, Colby and Monterey Jack cheese, and/or Mexican cheese blend (6 ounces)
  • Optional toppings for example thinly sliced eco-friendly onion, snipped fresh cilantro, seeded and chopped fresh jalapeno pepper, pickled jalapeno slices, sour cream, and/or canned chunky salsa

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 levels F. Spread two-thirds from the tortilla chips with an 11- or 12-inch ovenproof platter or pizza pan put aside.
  2. Inside a large skillet prepare hamburger over medium heat until brown. Drain off fat.
  3. Add some beans and also the 1 cup salsa towards the beef. Spoon about two-thirds from the mixture over chips. Sprinkle with 1 cup from the cheese. Bake about ten minutes or until cheese melts. Remove from oven. Top with remaining chips, beef mixture, and cheese. Bake about ten minutes more or until cheese melts.
  4. If preferred, top with eco-friendly onion, cilantro, jalapeno pepper, pickled jalapeno slices, sour cream, and/or additional salsa.

Prepare as directed, except omit beef and skip Step Two. Add another 15-ounce can black beans or pinto beans, rinsed and drained, towards the bean mixture.

Prepare as directed, except substitute 1 pound boneless skinless chicken white meat, reduce bite-size pieces, for that hamburger. Prepare until chicken pieces aren't pink.
