Mason jar snow globe recipe

The shimmering magic of snowfall is definitely transfixing, be it outdoors of the question or inside this classic toy. Homemade globes allow you to produce a wintry scene straight from your own imagination.

Just about any jar works best for this project: Baby-food, pimiento, and olive jars are great choices. Search for plastic or ceramic figurines (metal ones are vulnerable to rust) at local flea markets and hobby or model-railroad shops. Synthetic evergreen tips can be found at the most floral-supply stores. Additionally, you will need oil-based enamel paint, sandpaper, epoxy, sterilized water, glitter, and glycerin (offered at drugstores).

Add Sterilized Water and Glitter

When the jar covers aren't in periodic colors already, paint all of them with oil-based enamel paint. Sand within the lid before the surface is rough. With obvious-drying epoxy, adhere the figurine to within the lid, and allow the epoxy dry.

Fill the jar almost to the peak with sterilized water give a pinch of glitter along with a dash of glycerin to help keep the glitter from falling too rapidly. Don't drink too much, or even the glitter will keep to the bottom from the jar when it is flipped. Screw around the lid tightly, fostering to not dislodge the figurine. Turn the jar over and again -- and allow it to snow.

For any more professional look, you may also assemble a snow globe utilizing a water globe and base. After some shake, our customized snow globe even jingles! The horse, sleigh, and pine tree are model-train-set props. The bell-harness can be created with black and red enamel paint and small silver beads.
