We ate an entire lotta meat in South america picanha (Brazilian steak), churrascaria, carne de sol, take your pick, we most likely ate it. Our favorite meat dishes we ate in South america wasn’t technically Brazilian though. The factor that won us over was would be a big fat Italian mortadella sandwich from Bar do Man! This animal was full of stacks on stacks of sliced mortadella capped having a layer of cheese. We went Pork about this bad boy and really debated moving in on seconds.

Bar do Man began in 1933 and it is legendary for serving the very best mortadella sandwich in So Paulo found in the city’s first grocery market, Mercado Municipal. Bar do Man attracts both locals and vacationers having a constant type of people thirstin’ with this ridiculously scrumptious sandwich. Watch as fresh slices of mortadella are sliced, stacked, after which tossed onto a griddle developing a crispy browned crust. A layer of cheese is added which instantly melts because it touches the top of hot mortadella then sandwiched from a simple white-colored roll. So Great!

Killer mortadella sandwiches aside, Bar do Man also provides traditional salgados or Portuguese / Brazilian snacks for example empadas, pastis croquettes, coxinha, bolinho de bacalhau and po de quejo. We purchased the empada de palmito that are basically small savory pies full of a piping hot heart of palm filling and the most popular, pastis, fried gigantic ravioli full of a number of fillings. All of those other salgados count trying too, but i was saving room for dessert, ha! Bolinho de Bacalhau and Coxhina will also be fried finger foods, first as being a fried salt cod fish stick and also the latter composed of shredded chicken fried inside a potato batter molded in to the form of a chicken’s leg. Last, although not least po de quejo is really a Brazilian cheese bun made from casava flour which provides the bun a soft texture.
