While Watson’s serve was tested within the third game, they didn’t surrender a rest for the whole contest. Within the first set tiebreak, Kontinen and Watson held strong when their opponents retrieved from the -5 deficit.
With their confidence and pleasure growing within the second set, Kontinen and Watson were best in a position to capitalise whenever a Groenefeld double fault delivered the only real break from the match within the seventh game the brand new champions easily progressed for their victory only three games later.
