Aloo-Gosht ka Ka Khatta Shorba Aromatic Soured Meat Stew

Khatta Salan means ‘tangy curry’. Sometimes the curry is also called Khatta shorba means ‘tangy stew’. The sourness in the tomato plants and tamarind, a small heat from red chilli powder and also the subtle sweetness from onions combined with the roasted spices impart an aromatic and delectable flavor for this tomato stew. This same tomato base or shorba can be used in lots of other versions from the khatta shorba. that are Karele ka Khatta Shorba. Bhendi Ka khatta shorba . Arvi-Gosht ka khatta shorba etc.

Aloo-Gosht ka Khatta Salan Meat Potato in Aromatic tangy Tomato Stew

Lamb shouldermeat with bones 600 gms, washed and reduce bite size pieces
Yellow Onion 3, large, finely sliced
Red chilli powder 1 tablespoons of
Salt 2 1/2 teaspoon
Curry leaves 2 sprigs, fresh
Ginger root garlic clove paste 1 teaspoon
Turmeric 1/4 teaspoon
Roasted Cumin seed powder 1/2 teaspoon
Roasted Coriander seed powder 1/2 teaspoon
Tomato plants 5, large red and ripe, finely chopped
Taters 3, medium-sized, quartered
Tamarind juice/Lime or lemon juice 3 tablespoons of
Canola oil 5 tablespoons of

  • Inside a large pressure oven at medium high temperature, add oil, and when it gets warm add some sliced onions and fry until golden brown. Add ginger root-garlic clove paste, curry leaves, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, cumin powder and meat bones. Let prepare before the meat is not pink. Add tomato plants and prepare along until it starts departing oil. Pour in water to pay for and pressure prepare before the meat is cooked.
  • Add some quartered taters and tamarind/lemon/lime juice and around 2-4 glasses of water towards the meat stew and allow it to prepare half covered for any further 5-ten minutes or before the taters are fork tender. Remove from heat and serve.

Recommended Accompaniments: Chawal and Khadi dal .

Note: You are able to replace taters with peeled and quartered turnips to really make it ‘Shalgam aur Gosht Ka Khatta Salan’ Turnip and Lamb meat inside a Tangy Sauce.
