Khara/Savory & Sihi/Sweet Pongal

Pongal is on menu on festive occasions. Festivals and Pongal are synonymous to particular extent. After I chose to make this a week ago there wasn't any festival, but Priyanka craved for many Pongal! After my husband browse the message, he'd this sweet smile on his face and stated. so today Pongal is on menu? there wasn't any have to answer since i was frying hesarubele with ghee and it is enjoyable scent was all over the house :), saying the reply is YES. Hesarubele/Split moongdal/dhuli moongdal - 2 cups*
Grain - 2 cups *

* Lentil : Grain drawn in the number of 1:1 yeilds tasty dish
When you prepare grain and lentils together, separate them into equal portions to create savory and sweet pongal.

For Powder:
Jeerige/Cumin - 1tsp
Kaalumenasu/Pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
Ingu/Asafoetida/Hing - a pinch
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon

Dry roast Cumin and Pepper and grind these questions pessel mortar along with other ingredients. Ensure that it stays aside

For Tampering :
Ghee - Be generous Mustard, Cashew Nuts (generously used :D) Curry Leaves, Whole pepper corns, greenchilli-1 reduce thin models

In addition to the ingredients above you'll need dry grated coconut. no qty only use as needed. Coconut garnishing enhances flavor. I add chopped coriander also ) we like coriander garnishing

Fry individually Hesarubele/Split moongdal/dhuli moongdal grain inside a tablespoons of of ghee until you get nice aroma of lentils. at this time lentils might have began turning brown. Grain. just heat up within the same pan. Prepare Grain and Lentils inside a pressure oven with sufficient water. I personally use 1 cup grain dal mixture. 1.5cups water for Pongal to really make it little soft and porridge like. adjust water accordingly

Inside a vessel that you need to make Pongal heat ghee. Add tampering ingredients within the order pointed out..just watch for couple of seconds for mustard to crackle and cashews to show red.
Add some powder pointed out above and provide a pleasant stir. Add cooked grain lentil mixture and give a glass filled with water and blend completely. Add salt. Take it to boil and appearance for salt. Garnish with dry grated coconut and coriander if you want for any divine, flavorful, tasty Pongal! Enjoy hot!

Bellada Pongal/Sweet Pongal


Cooked Grain Lentil Mixture. 1 cup
Dairy. 2.5 cups
Jaggery. 1/2 cup grated (You should use sugar)
Ghee. Be generous
Dry Fruits. Cashew and Raisins :D generously recycled
Dry grated coconut. 2tbsp
Cardamom Powder. 1/s teaspoon (optional)

Mix all things in a vessel and produce it to boil.
You are able to fry dry fruits in ghee or utilize it because it is..I've fried in ghee and added it.
I do not use cardamom powder for sweet pongal.
Use more jaggery if you would like so that it is more sweeter. Enjoy Savory and Sweet Pongal Hot HOT!
