Well, the scientific minds at Wham-O toys had precisely what you had been searching for, Super Elastic Bubble Plastic, that short-resided, and surely well-appreciated, tube of goop that delighted countless kids throughout the 70s.

Loved these a lot. The fumes were killer, in oh a lot of ways, however i loved the smell. The main one video appears like it had become obtainable in multiple colors in one tube. From the purchasing a carded three pack of various colors. Needed to squeeze them out individually. We never spread them within our hands, but applied them around and also over a rotating straw.
I'm believing that this or perhaps a much the same product was available in early to mid 1950’s. In those days I will be a child(born 1947).
