Stir alginate with water inside a 1-to-1 ratio, nearly filling the two-quart container.

Position hands the way you wish it to be cast (if you would like the sculpture to be the candleholder, hold a candle inside your hands, keeping it straight then carefully remove candle), and insert hands into alginate mixture. Hold still three to five minutes, before the mold is placed.

Pull hands out (this won’t modify the mold). Mix plaster of Paris based on package directions, and pour into mold to fill. Let looking for several hrs.

Remove entire mold from container. Use craft knife to chop the mold in two nicely, and take away plaster hands. Put aside to dry completely (this might have a couple of days).
