Joy of cooking butterscotch brownies recipe


I increased track of these brownies, that are technically blondies. The Pleasure of Cooking, in which the recipe originates from, calls them butterscotch brownies, but Wikipedia states that they're blondies. After I consider blondies, I do not picture these bars, that are dense and almost sticky and sweet and addictive. Trust me, I am too ashamed to let you know the number of I ate after dinner. The chunk withdrawn from the pan above is exactly what I ate before  dinner.  My mother accustomed to make these whenever we were kids, and I did previously make sure they are after i was more youthful. This is among the first recipes I transformed into gluten-free, since it just uses 1/2 cup of flour. I have discovered that individuals would be the easiest recipes for substitutions. 

This recipe can be created in 2 ways. You may make the fundamental recipe, out of the box, and also have a thin, soft, slightly dense wonderful bar (above). You may also double the amount recipe, making a cakey, fluffy bar. I love the only recipe best, but they are great for both.

In the Pleasure of Cooking, could be bending. I have cut lower around the butter since i don't have to be eating that much butter. 

3 T butter
1 c brown sugar
1 egg
1 t vanilla
1/2 c flour mix
1 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
(if you are doubling the recipe I recommend 1/2 t of xanthan gum, or else you can skip it)


Melt the butter within the microwave, then stir within the brown sugar until completely moistened. Let awesome slightly, then stir in all of those other ingredients. Pour right into a well greased 8x8 pan and bake 15-twenty minutes at 350. Should you double the amount recipe, bake 25-35 minutes. Awesome, then slice into 16 squares and revel in. Use restraint.
