It was excellent. I didn't have rum on hands, and so i substituted with crown royal walnut whiskey. also it was scrumptious. My husband needed to crawl to sleep following this one and didn't appear to note his flu any longer..hahaha :)
I have attempted several hot toddy recipes in the last 2 decades (yes, I'm over 38). Had an unpleasant chest cold with aggravating 'cough' which Robitussin TM appeared to barely manage.
Was wallowing in self-pity watching some pointless program after i had a motivation. "What inspiration?" you might ask.
I googled "Hot Rum Toddy" when i was at Cuba captured and it was not in mood for any 'Cuba Libre'. Found Uncle Bill's Hot rum toddy concoction. Although I'd no nutmeg, Used to do possess the fresh lemon, great Canadian organic honey, obviously the fundamental CUBAN dark rum, and other things his recipe prescribed.
One drink later, feeling fine and gotta' admit, I lessened the honey amount (too sweet for me personally, used teasppons) as well as on a proportions of 1-5, this really is easily a 4.5
Why excessive? Whether it wasn't good I would not took time to publish this comment!

I've attempted several hot rum recipes, and did not like them. I figured initially I would not such as this one, but after experimenting using the honey and lemon, it switched out great! just recipe.
