Kathirikai puli kulambu brinjal gravy recipe

Ennai kathirikkai Kulambu is our family's favourite. I really like it with any vegetable curry or paruppu usili. If anybody hasn't attempted it before, then do try it out as Home theater system . will like this South Indian Ennai kathirikkai Kulambu greatly. It's only stuffed brinjals in tamarind sauce or could be known as stuffed brinjal kulambu.


Ennai Kathirikkai Kulambu-Steps to make Ennai Kathirikai

Small Brinjals - 10-12
Tamarind - Lemon sized ball
Salt -as needed.

Roast and Grind

Bengal gram-Kadalai paruppu-Chana dal- 2 tablespoons of
Coriander seeds/Dhania -3 tablespoons of
Urad dal - 1 1/2 tablespoons of
Red chillies -10-12
Grated Coconut - 2 tablespoons of

For that seasoning

Oil - 4 1/2 tablespoons of
Mustard seeds -1 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida/hing - an ample pinch
Curry leaves - 2 spring


Soak tamarind within 4 glasses of warm water for 15-twenty minutes. Extract tamarind juice and discard its pulp.


Heat a teaspoon of oil inside a kadai and fry the components pointed out under 'roast and grind' until dal turns golden brown. Add grated coconut and fry for any couple of more minutes. Allow awesome.


Then powder it coarsely within the blender. Now our spice powder for ennai kathirikkai kuzhambu is prepared. Picture 2



Wash brinjals, discard the stem making a + cut departing the underside intact (picture 1).


Now stuff the brinjals using the spice powder we prepared. Ensure that it stays aside.The brinjals will be ready to be cooked (Picture 3).


Now let us start making the Ennai kathirikai kulambu


Heat oil inside a kadai/pan, add mustard seeds, once they splutter, add fenugreek seeds, hing and curry leaves.


Adding the stuffed brinjals,turmeric powder and salt. Prepare on low flames stirring it occasionally.


When brinjals are half cooked, add tamarind extract, the rest of the spice powder or no and salt as needed ( once we have added some for that brinjals)


Prepare on medium flame before the gravy thickens slightly and oil floats on top.


Scrumptious Ennai kathirikai Kulambu is able to be offered with hot steamed grain.
