C for Charu Podi Andhra Style Rasam Powder

The reference to charu (rasam) at our home makes people really really happy especially my mother in law and myself. Both of us are such ardent fans of the humble dish that people long for some every second day. My childhood, I recall drinking a little glass of charu for supperOrsupper would be a usual ritual for me personally and my father.Nothing can beat the freshness of homemade rasam powder with no work one can produce a big batch and store in airtight containers. It's shelf existence is very lengthy - 6 several weeks or even more. Believe me, when you get this to version, you won't ever ever return to commercially made rasam powder again.

Makes a couple of glasses of ground charu podi

To become roasted dry -

1 cup coriander seeds (dhania)

1.25 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds (methi seeds)

1/2 cup cumin seeds (jeera)

10-12 whole red chillies, stalks removed

15-20 curry leaves, stems removed

1/4 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)

To become roasted in ghee -

1.5 tablespoons of whole peppercorns

No salt needed with this recipe

2. Heat oil and roast red chillies until they're crisp and vibrant red. Make certain they do not turn brown. Take away the chillies to the same plate (above). Within the leftover oil - add curry leaves and asafoetida. Roast them until crisp and dark eco-friendly. Remove and hang aside around the plate.

3. Now, heat ghee and roast peppercorns before the aroma arises that is about two to three minutes. Remove and hang aside. Allow the whole mixture awesome a little (for around a few minutes) before grinding to prevent protuberances.

4. Grind all of the ingredients right into a fine powder. Awesome and store within an airtight container for later.
