Top shelf tequila recipe book

Our mother’s effective margaritas are legendary among her buddies, our buddies, and every one of our buddies’ buddies. These aren’t the wimpy, sour-mixy margaritas you might know from restaurants they’re as pure like a margarita will get. Drink them at the own risk!

For Just One Drink

coarse salt
3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
1 1/4 ounces triple sec
2 ounces Cuervo Gold tequila*

Moisten the rim of the glass with lime juice, then coat with salt. Shake all of the ingredients intensely with ice for 25 seconds and strain in to the salted, ice-filled glass.

*If you decide yourself a margarita fan, you might be enticed to visit “top shelf” upon us and substitute some fancy tequila for that Cuervo. Don’t. We’ve attempted this drink with several premium tequilas, despite the fact that the resulting drinks were good, they didn’t possess the just-rough-enough limey perfection of Michele’s. Which are simpler around the wallet.

For 20 Drinks

1 3/4 cups plus two tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 cups plus two tablespoons triple sec
5 cups tequila
coarse salt

Combine all of the ingredients except the salt inside a large pitcher, add ice, and stir intensely for around thirty seconds. Spoon the ice. Keep pitcher within the refrigerator until party time. Serve in glasses with salted rims.
