I am beginning by helping cover their Xamarin Studio we have spent with Visual Studio (2012 last) for any good couple of years. However someone through importing projects, and beginning new Android projects I have were able to break Xamarin Studio. Now when beginning a brand new project I recieve the next error
I have attempted to correct my installation, however this made no difference. I have attempted carrying out a reinstall however this made no difference. Apart from an entire uninstall and reinstall what options have i got?
I am using Xamarin Studio 4.2.2, and may confirm Now i have a similar condition in Visual Studio 2012. Although I'm able to by hand build projects using MSBuild.exe, but apart from that both IDEs are damaged.

I have really were able to find the issue to an issue with .Internet framework setup, in some way by experimenting using the build settings inside the Xamarin IDE I have corrupted it. To identify this issue in Visual Studio 2012 I switched on MSBuild build settings to Diagnostic
Then identified an issue with C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv4..30319Microsoft.Common.targets. and taking advantage of a DIFF tool isolating the settings against a piece of equipment which in fact had a functional build process - copying the missing entry.
This appears to become a bug within Xamarin Studio, when time enables, I'm going to reproduce this for any bug report.
Xamarin Studio does not open any MSBuild target files (even just in readonly mode) included in normal usage. The only real factor which opens these files may be the build engine supplied by Microsoft which both XS and Versus use.
What might have happened is the fact that Versus/XS opened up the targets file whenever a build error was double clicked within the Error Pad and you accidentally modified and saved the file within the IDE. That does appear most unlikely though, but it is the only real factor I'm able to consider.
Another alternative is really a deliberate edit of individuals files, that is most likely less likely )
