Ingredients
- Dough:
- 2 pounds all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 tablespoon shortening (recommend: Crisco)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Cake Mixture:
- 2 pounds Idaho russet taters, peeled and reduce 1 " cubes
- 1/2 bunch freshly chopped cilantro leaves
- 1 small habanero pepper, seeded and chopped
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin salt, in order to taste
Directions
For that dough:
Mix all of the ingredients inside a large mixing bowl until incorporated. Next, gradually add water until it forms a dough ball. Knead for any couple of minutes, after which unveil to basketball-sized spheres (ten to twelve). Place balls on the sheet pan and put inside a warm place to proof for around ten minutes.
For that cake mixture:
Boil the taters until soft, drain, after which devote large bowl. Add remaining ingredients after which mash and blend well.
For that Aloo Cake:
Take one dough ball and unveil to around a 6-inch circle. Place between 1 and 1 1/two tablespoons from the cake mixture in the center of the circle. Fold the dough over and pinch the perimeters to close them. Have a four to six-quart pot and grow it a bit more than half full with vegetable oil. Place pot on medium high temperature. When hot enough, although not smoking, carefully place one cake within the oil. Fry until golden brown on sides. Serve having a side of tamarind or mango chutney.

With that episode, they didn't show steps to make the Aloo Pies. they merely demonstrated a short moment from it shown on a plate. Aloo Pies are created with taters much like in mentioned recipe. (Aloo=Potato. also it's not always the same shape as a round "pie". it's a lot more like a flattened oblong/football/half moon formed patty full of the seasoned "mashed" potato filling.) just viewed this episode and couldn't wait to obtain the recipe, but observed within the episode Pam used yellow lentils, as well as in the recipe they're with taters? I'm confused. i had been going through the recipes and that i saw aloo pies and went going then caught myself and scrolled support the page and it was like. aloo pies what the heck, i get this to everyday each week, from trinidad it's a well known indian delicacy, i believe however u require more than 1 teaspoon cumin or geera as it is called within trini, u wish to taste it, and check out adding fresh crushed garlic clove, it can make an enormous amount of difference. trudy k. 2010-08-14T21:20:06Z item not reviewed by moderator and printed
Glad to determine something from Trinidad managed to get.
