- 1. A little bottle guard (lauki, almost 500 gm)
- 2. A mug of Split gram peas(chane ki daal), washed and drenched for 30 min.
- 3. 2 small tomato plants, chopped
- 4. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds (jeera)
- 5. salt to taste
- 6. 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 7. 2 teaspoon oil/ghee
- 8. 2 eco-friendly chillies (finely chopped)
- 9. 1 large onion (finely chopped)
- 10. small bit of ginger root (finely chopped)
- 11. 4-5 cloves of garlic clove(minced)
- 12. 2 red dried chillies
- 13. 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 14. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
- 15. Cilantro to garnish
- 16. 3 glasses of water
Method
- Wash lauki and peel it. Dice it into small pieces. Keep aside.
- Inside a pressure oven, heat 1 teaspoon oil. Add Cumin seeds and eco-friendly chillies in it. once they splutter, add tomato plants and saute on the low flame for several-4 minutes until tomato plants are mushy. You can include little water when the tomato plants start sticking with the foot of the oven. Add turmeric and salt for this.
- Add lauki and daal with 3 glasses of water. Prepare till 2 whistles and open following the pressure is finished. Lauki ought to be whole but very tender, almost mashed with daal.
- Inside a pan, heat 1 teaspoon oil. Add diced onions and fry till brown. Add ginger root, garlic clove and fry till brown again. Dont overheat or they'll burn.
- Add this time, add some salt, damaged dried red chillies along with a pinch of red chilli powder. This can boost the taste of the onion, ginger root garlic clove tadka.
- Add this tadka in to the daal mix and simmer fr 2-3 minutes till its completely absorbed.
- Now add garam masala and cilantro and daal covered for five-7 minutes. Done !
- Notes :
- 1. This process could be adopted with any daal you need to provide a special taste to. Frying tomato plants first after which adding daal in it provides a special taste. The later added tadka provides a crunchy flavour towards the daal. Its important toa dd salt within the tadka but in the last so the crunch of onion and garlic clove remains intact. 2. You are able to prepare it without onion garlic clove also, just give a pinch of heeng within the tadka before onions.
