Anybody possess a clone recipe for Shock Top? It is a Belgian White-colored wheat ale has citrus peels and coriander inside it. Jogs my memory of the sweeter form of Blue Moon. Thanks ahead of time.
I have had Shock Top a couple of times and I have had Blue Moon many occasions and that i could not really differentiate. I have never sampled them alongside actually so its possibly Shock Top is sweeter.
I have designed a Blue Moon Clone several occasions and unless of course they're significantly different in flavor I think you will get what you are searching for by using it, it had been designed after studying nowhere Moon Clone thread within this section.
Blue Moon Clone
5.5 Gallon Batch at 80% Efficiency
4.5 lbs 2-row
4.5 lbs Wheat Malt
1. lb Flaked Oatmeal
1.5 oz Hallertauer hops at 60 min
1 oz crushed Coriander at 15 mins
1.5 oz sweet orange peel at 15 mins
1 whirfloc tablet
S-05 Yeast
OG: 1.049
FG: 1.011
ABV: 4.98%
Simple recipe 45:45 split of Wheat to two-row is standard, the tenPercent oatmeal give a nice mouthfeel towards the beer. Just a little bittering hops without any aroma hops to help keep it fairly mellow, the important thing flavors would be the coriander and orange peel which goes along with fifteen minutes to boil. Any clean fermenting yeast is going to do (s-04, s-05 nottingham etc.) I do not really identify any yeast flavor either in of individuals beers the primary flavor may be the orange and coriander. Avoid using a Belgian Wit or other flavorful yeast unless of course you would like the tastes individuals yeasts are recognized for giving out.
Reason: Add OG and FG
