Melting Moments (Round 2)
Julia's Melting Moments out of this year's season of Masterchef Australia were something of the legend. They stored appearing in a variety of episodes so we stored talking with contestants and idol judges alike about how exactly amazing these were. And lastly, i was because of the recipe. Oh. My. God. They are actually amazing .
I have made these about 5 occasions now. They're THAT good. And thus simple to make. I simply stick to the recipe exactly each and every some time and they come out exactly the same each and every time. I labored out what shelf and temp they bake best at within my oven too. Insane! 180g unsalted butter
60g icing sugar, sifted
60g custard powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
180g plain flour
100g butter, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
1 cup icing sugar, sifted
Jar of jam (any sort - I favor raspberry)
Method
1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line two oven trays with baking paper.
2. For biscuits, cream butter for 2 minutes within an electric mixer with paddle attachment. Add icing sugar and custard powder and blend until combined. Sift the baking powder and flour together then increase the dough and blend well. Roll dough into 40g balls, put on a baking paper lined baking tray and press each ball having a fork to depart an indent. Bake biscuits for 16-18 minutes or until light golden. Get up on trays a few minutes to awesome then transfer to some wire rack to awesome completely.
3. For buttercream, whisk butter and vanilla until smooth. Add icing sugar and beat until mixture forms a paste, the consistency of thick icing. Spoon right into a piping bag fitted having a small star nozzle. (I really just spooned it on - cbf =P)
4. To put together, convey a spoonful of jam on the bottom of half the biscuits. Pipe (or spoon) buttercream inside a circle onto the bottom of another 1 / 2 of the biscuits. Lightly press certainly one of each biscuit together to create a melting moment. Dust with icing sugar before serving.
