2 pounds hamburger, lean
1 cup onion, diced
1 cup carrots, diced
1 cup celery, diced
1 1/2 cup corn, fresh or frozen
2 cloves garlic clove, minced
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
8 ounces beef broth
two tablespoons butter, combined with
two tablespoons flour
2 pounds taters, cooked and mashed

Prepare hamburger in fry pan until brown. Add onion, carrots, celery, garlic clove, salt, pepper and nutmeg. Lower heat and prepare for ten minutes or until vegetables are wilted. Add beef broth, provide a boil. Stir in an adequate amount of the butter/flour roux to create a thick gravy to bind the filling. Pour into large shallow baking pan and awesome. The filling ought to be about 1-1/2 " deep.
Cover the meat mixture within the pan using the corn after which top using the hot mashed taters. smooth taters evenly, brush surface with butter. Bake at 325 levels F for 35-40 minutes.

Not really a traditional shepherd's cake, but good! The Irish Rovers, of Puff the special moment Dragon and also the Unicorn fame, possess a very effective Old Country Pub in Calgary, Alberta. Their Shepherd's Cake is justly famous. Vincent Lee, kitchen manager in the Unicorn states the recipe came from Ireland through the Irish Rovers greater than ten years ago.
